Macbook Firmware Update required GUID, Oh No!

June 17th, 2009 by Justin

So I had recently upgraded the hard drive in my macbook pro to the 380 gig 7200 rpm version and formatted it as I always did, Journaled & Extended.
Shortly afterwards I attempted to upgrade the firmware to 1.3 and I ran into an issue. I had not selected “GUID” from the partition menu when formatting [...]

The Free Spirit

May 4th, 2009 by Justin

44

the holy man

April 29th, 2009 by Justin

There is a defiance of oneself among whose most sublimated expressions some forms of asceticism belong. For certain human beings have such a great need to exercise their force and lust to rule that, lacking other objects, or because they have always failed elsewhere, they finally have recourse to tyrannizing certain parts of their own [...]

My new snake, “Nietzche”

April 25th, 2009 by Justin

I’ve named my new King Snake in honor of my favorite new philosopher, Frederick Nietzche.
Here’s a picture of him eating his first meal at our house.

It’s hard to tell from the photo but he (or she) is about 12-13 inches long and very slender, as King Snakes are. Very gentle and “cute.”

April 24th, 2009 by Justin

I’m happy to observe that many of my recent blog visitors have been viewing my posts about Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor.
One item of particular interest to me is the progress that Trent (T.R.) has made as an individual.
As a young person, I was filled with a lot of rage, particularly against God for [...]

As some of you know I am a dedicated NIN fan. This is a video of an instrumental performance of the song, “And All That Could Have Been” from NIN’s “Still” album. She outperforms Reznor. Take a moment and listen.

Pedernales Falls

April 1st, 2009 by Justin

This last weekend my wife and I escaped to Pedernales Falls in the beautiful hill country surrounding Austin, TX. It was much more than I expected.
I could go on and on about how my wife and I connected in a special way in this special place, but that’s not why you’re here.
The falls were beautiful. [...]
